Eating a healthy, balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health. In fact, up to 80% of premature heart disease and stroke can be prevented through your life choices and habits, such as eating a healthy diet and being physically active.
A diet rich in fruits and vegetables has been scientifically proven to provide numerous health benefits, such as reducing your risk of several chronic diseases and keeping your body healthy. However, making major changes to your diet can sometimes seem very overwhelming. Instead of making big changes, it may be better to start with a few smaller ones. And it’s likely more manageable to start with just one thing.
Limit processed foods and hydrogenated oils which are highly inflammatory and can increase the risk of chronic disease.
Choosing breads, cereals, rice and pasta is key; although some choose to completely stop consuming these products for weight loss purposes. These are still important in your diet. Choosing the best one, (grains, white, brown, soy, gluten-free, low sodium, etc) thats right for you and your body is the secret. So, by figuring out, how many calories you burn in a day, your bowel habits and your energy levels, your BMI, these are how you would figure out the portions to serve yourself, and if to serve others in your family or house hold that are following any diet change as well.
Transfat, saturated fat, fat that. It seems fat is everywhere, from potato chips, to microwave products to anything we put in our mouth that tastes good. There are both healthy and non healthy fats, oils and more oils, which to cook with and where to start.
First off read your lables on food products, its the only way to know what your putting inside your body.
Sec. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is always a good start, a great oil for Vegetables and salads
Certain oils are to cook at different temperatures, and it gives the food your consuming aroma and taste. Vegetable oil is ideal for frying, and don't be wary of it, pan frying fish is delicious, moderation is the key to eating healthier. Make sure you blott off excess oils from your dish, and remove hardened debris; and when serving to younger children, and seniors / I always advise you to cut thier food up to avoid choking.*
Berries are a great way to stop a craving, just having dried berries and or nuts handy to reach and grab in your car on the go or in your bag to temp. that desire as you walk past something yummy in the store.
It gives you energy, fulfills that void, and surges your temptation for more food.
By giving awareness to the things we eat and by moderating the foods we enjoy, we can balance our diet better, eventually we become better at managing our diet with time.
The more we understand what our bodys need to consume regularly, to function properly, the more consciously aware we are of the foods we eat.
We are what we eat folks, its evident in today's society. It is seen around the globe that the things we eat affects our ability to function properly. When your body is at optimal level, your bodys resistance increases to fight germs infection and prevent disease, your mind functions better and your aware, and your mood is stabilised.
Aside from genetics playing a key component in your physical and emotional well-being being; maintaining it is balanced by what we choose to consume everyday
Until next time...hope to see fitness and healthy food choices in all of your plans, daily care, and/ or future.
Remember the importance of your diet & make good choices.
Stay healthy.❤
